An interesting day, mainly of rest for us.
We had a leisurely start as we expecting our friends to arrive about lunchtime and so it was a pottering sort of morning. When they hadn’t turned up by lunchtime we sent them a text and got no reply.
About 1400 we heard a vehicle coming and saw it was a white 200 Series towing a Bushtracker, however, as it got closer we realised that it wasn’t Alan and Sandy!
it became pretty clear that we weren’t going far today so we started collecting firewood. At 1500 we made voice contact but intermittently and we understood them to 50 ks away.
Eventually they turned up but with tales of on-going problems. The car is running fine but the computer is displaying every single warning light. Toyota in Kalgooorlie had agreed to look at if they could get there by 0730 tomorrow morning, which meant that they really had to get to Kal tonight. So they left immediately because it’s nearly two hours from here.
We decided to have a cup of tea and discussed the situation. We felt that if it were us we would want to make very sure that the problem was fixed before heading further out into the bush, the Toyota garage in Alice Springs, being something like 1500 ks away! We will catch up with Alan and Sandy tomorrow but will keep heading north to meet up with our other friends who are currently waiting for us at Malcolm Dam a few ks out of Leonora. If A & S feel confident they can catch us all up and, if not we can carry on as planned with Brad and Denise.
All that was left to do was to light the fire, open a bottle, break out some nibblies and ponder an interesting and restful day.
