Denamrk Trip 16-21 March 2012

We had another couple of good days, walks and pub lunches and then on Wednesday it was time to leave, some people were staying a little longer, some were continuing they’re travels, one couple were traveling round Oz whilst there new house is being built and some like us were heading for home. There were 15 Bushtrackers there but next year there is a national meet in Alice Springs when they’re expecting around a 100 vans.

The way they were arranged all you can really see is the tow vehicles (ours is the second one) but it was quite impressive to see them all lined up.

Lots of people stopped by to say goodbye and the line is always, “expect we’ll see you on the road somewhere”, it is in fact surprising how many people who you know on the road, in spite of the size of the place.

We had decided to have an overnight stop on the way hope at a lake (Nunijup) Pat was keen to investigate. Stephen and Robyn decided to join us and we set out to find it but managing a diversion into Mt Barker for a coffee. We arrived in time for lunch, table and chairs between the two caravans. After lunch I tried to circumnavigate the lake but it had been fenced at a property part the way round and had to retrace my steps. It did mean that I was back in time to continue the daily routine of drinks and nibbles before dinner.

It was a nice quiet spot and we had a good night’s sleep.

Stephen & Robyn left for home earlyish in the morning, we had a steady run, investigating another couple of prospective night stops on the way and managing to be passing ‘Ye Olde Inne’ (c1850) in Quindanning at lunchtime, where we had a leisurely lunch, a pity about the beer!
