Ceduna – Adelaide
Having been travelling around 90 kph across the Nullabor, Wednesday and Thursday were a bit more casual with only 700 ks to do in a couple of days, so we decided on Kimba as the night stop. We had actually been advised, by the bloke in the van next to us at Border Village, that you could park at the oval (a generic term for sports field) for free, so we arrived at the oval to find him there already!
The next day was a 450 k run into Adelaide, the route cuts across the top of the Eyre Peninsular to Port Augusta at the top of the Spencer Gulf. We bypassed Iron Knob, which as it name suggests, is the main iron ore mining centre in this part of S.A.
After the very flat nature of the scenery for the last few days the sight of the Gawler Range, with the higher Flinders Ranges in the background as we approached Port Augusta made a significant change.

Port Augusta is an industrial town servicing Iron Knob and the huge Whyalla steelworks 50 ks to the south on the Eyre Peninsula.

At Port Augusta we turn south and pointed the car at Adelaide with the Flinders Range to our left. The traffic was OK until we hit the northern suburbs of Adelaide, although it wasn’t rush hour it was still quite busy enough for towing a caravan in, fortunately the the Caravan Park was relatively easy to get to by major roads.
The CP is also quite small but we got the van in OK and got set up.
We have just completed 2652 ks since last Saturday, so a free day tomorrow will be welcome.
Here’s the co-driver at work……………….

Here are some of the signs you might not have been able to read in the smaller photos. Will have to ask the locals what Stop Creeping means!

There’s a strange look of concentration on the co driver’s face!! Keep it up both of you, really interesting to read.
