Winter 2022 – back to Karnup

Thursday and we woke to a sort of bright morning but you could feel that we were nearing the end of the beautiful days. Whilst it turned out to be a nice day we could tell that tomorrow would be the home run.

The wind started to blow tonight which put paid to a final campfire.

Friday 29th July

We have a relatively short run today and we need to get off the dirt before the rain sets in, when we get to the tar at Cleary, Roger has just about enough time to pump the tyres back to road pressure before it starts to rain and then it rains virtually continuously till we arrive back in Karnup.

Another splendid trip, a bit different to most previous ones, wonderful to be able to meet up and camp with friends who we know well and meet others who we may keep in contact with for possible travelling in the future.

The new car, well, what an easy drive, it tows the BT effortlessly and is solid on the road. Peaceful inside, we can communicate without raising our voices and the corrugations don’t seem so violent.

It is much better on fuel than the 30% larger V8 in the troopie.

So here you see, the average l/100k is 17.3, total hours 110.05 (it zeros at 100), trip total 5203ks

So, here’s our route this trip, much of it retraced at sometime or other but it was an unusual trip in many ways. We stopped at places we normally drive through and we did not go straight to the goldfields as we had planned due to weather conditions, but we did get to some of it eventually. We changed plans sometimes to catch up with friends, which is a really good reason. We also avoided some routes because we believed that there was a lot of rain around which meant that we had to avoid some dirt roads which we would not normally do.

We just like being out in the country no matter where we end up.

We hope that you have enjoyed reading our blog, or just like looking at the pictures, we would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative.
